Do you love to fish in the Orlando Area? Some of the best local spots to
fish include Cypress Grove Park, Bear Creek Park, Lake Lotus Park, Blanchard
Park, Overlook Park, Tucker Ranch Recreation and Nature Complex, Bill
Frederick Park and Pool at Turkey Lake, Lake Underhill Park, and Kissimmee
Lakefront Park. As with most states, if someone wants to fish in salt
or fresh water, they have to first obtain a fishing license.
In Florida, some of the popular fishing licenses available include saltwater
fishing licenses, saltwater shoreline-only licenses, fishing and hunting
combination licenses, Goldman Sportsman’s Licenses, Military Gold
Sportsman’s Licenses, etc. While these licenses are easily obtained
online, through a licensed agent or a tax collector’s office, they can be
vulnerable to suspension when a parent owes child support.

Is Your FL Fishing License at Risk?
“All 50 states have statutory or administrative provisions authorizing
the suspension or revocation of various licenses for failure to pay
child support. The licenses affected generally are driver's, occupational, professional
(e.g., law), business and recreational (e.g.,
hunting and fishing),” according to the
National Conference of State Legislatures.
In Florida, recreational (hunting and fishing licenses) can be suspended
for past-due child support, but so can driver licenses, professional licenses,
occupational licenses, business licenses, vehicle, and vessel registration.
If you happen to own a boat, your vessel registration can be suspended,
so you won’t be able to take your boat out on the water until the
child support matter is handled and the registration is reinstated.
Has your hunting or fishing licenses, or both, been suspended due to child
support arrears? If so, other licenses can be at risk as well, such as
your driver’s license and your motor vehicle registration. If those
were to be suspended, it would be illegal for you to drive or operate
your motor vehicle on Florida’s roadways.
